Jeffrey Dahmer

Does it seem odd that atheist Steve Irwin would not be in heaven, but born again Jeffrey Dahmer would be?

Both persons mentioned can be found on wikipedia with a footnote to the source of their religion/faith or beliefs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Dahmer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_irwin I don't know if either were what the source says they were, but for argument, say indeed The "beloved" Crocodile Hunter was an atheist and the "monster" Dahmer repented and received Jesus Christ. What are some thoughts on that? This question seemed fitting with the talk of mass murder among christians Peace: It used to say atheist on his myspace page, Buddhist could easly replace atheist in this question, as well. Jezebel: Actually I do, this is why I asked the question Desi: His wife wasnt list on the source page...I mean wikipedia wouldnt lie would it? Morpheus: No I do not. I think God is glorified in his saving grace, and Dahmer was an example to all, that no sin is unforgivable. Mommy: God said it you violate one little bit of the law, you are guilty of all of it. You believe that dont you? Good things we are saved by grace and not works EricB: I am a so called thumper or I at least believe the bible, making me unpopular. And yes, my God is great enough to save anyone, nothing is impossible for Him, even saving someone like Dahmer. Anna: Its only a question, I stating upfront I didnt advocate whether either source was what they actually believed. Mommy..again: You will drive yourself insane trying to be "good" enough for God. That is why His saving grace is so liberating to the bonds of sin. This is the underlined theme of this question. We are all sinners, some more than others. Gods ways are not always popular to mans, but always just. Suzzette: My KJV bible doesnt say that. It desribes Hell as a place or torment with weeping, regret, gnashing of teeth. A place where all hope is lost.

  1. Doesn't really seem fair, does it?
  2. Thank God I'm an atheist so I don't have to spend eternity with Jeffrey Dahmer. Ha. I just thanked God I was an atheist.
  3. Frankly, I don't like to speculate who might and might not be in heaven. We just don't know, any of us.
  4. Just another reason I don't want to go to heaven. Who wants to be surrounded by murderers, warmongers, bigots, racists, sexists, ignorant horrible people? Not me. I'll be in hell enjoying evil things like sex, drugs and rock and roll.
  5. Steve and Terri are Buddist
  6. I always knew there was a really good reason why I liked Steve Irwin :)
  7. Odd? Not at all. According to your doctrine, that's exactly how it should go down. Accept Jesus as your master, or burn, burn, burn. Something to think about....
  8. I think he who spawned Bindi the Jungle girl should burn in hell. Sorry if it sounds cold but in Australia shes not on TV and the Aussies are not really that keen on Steve either.
  9. you dont want to know my thoughts on that...trust me I think it would be BS for someone like Dahmer to get into heaven. PERIOD. There is no way someone that sick, twisted and evil could find favor from God....and if he could, then god wouldnt be god.
  10. "Terri Irwin has stated in an interview that Irwin believed in God" I would think that his own wife would know him better than you. ___ As for Dahmer he was an opportunist like Hitler. He was a christian when it suited, agnostic when it suited him, and an atheist when it suited him. The question is when did each idea suit him. ________ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Irwin#Other_personal_trivia
  11. Sounds about right. Steve would want to be with the wholly misunderstood, seemingly dangerous yet innocent creatures. And Dahmer would want to be where he could find the most gullible victims.
  12. Only way I would want to spend eternity with either god or mr dahmer would be if I got to spend eternity giving them the punishment they deserve.
  13. When Dahmer converted to Christianity, do you think it was because he liked the idea of hanging out for eternity with someone who'd not only already died but had asked his friends to eat his flesh?
  14. None of us are experts on what was in either of their hearts. It's up to God to decide their fate. I personally think repentance requires much more than asking for forgiveness. You have to make retribution the best way you can to those you affected.
  15. Funny how no thumpers ever get their hands dirty in these questions.. darn it.. you made sense.. now you blew their whole plan.. damn
  16. I think we should find better things to do with our time then to sit here pondering if people went to Heaven or Hell. Why you ask would I say something so silly as that. AHHHH who's the one that actually makes that decision as to were our souls are going.........yup, so whats the point in talking about it if we don't have the say. hmmmm
  17. Yet the Bible says "The wages sin pays is death." We all sin and are deserving of death...so those who actually have died have paid that debt and are finished with that account. The Bible also says that those who have died are in their graves...not in heaven. It even points out that King David is not in heaven. Acts 2:29 “Men, brothers, it is allowable to speak with freeness of speech to YOU concerning the family head David, that he both deceased and was buried and his tomb is among us to this day. Ecc. 9:10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol(hell, grave), the place to which you are going. David, just as the rest of the majority of the dead, are waiting for the promised resurrection. 1 Corr. 15:20 However, now Christ has been raised up from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]. 21 For since death is through a man, resurrection of the dead is also through a man. 22 For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all WILL BE[my caps] made alive. 23 But each one in his own rank: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who belong to the Christ during his presence. 24 Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. 25 For he must rule as king until [God] has put all enemies under his feet. 26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing. 27 For [God] “subjected all things under his feet.” But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that it is with the exception of the one who subjected all things to him. 28 But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone. So, the truth is both Steve and Jeff are dead, in their grave waiting for the resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. It is during the 1000 year rule of Christ that they will both be judged at to their fitness for eternal life. EDIT: What doesn't your KJ Version of the Bible say? Which part? That 'the wages sin pays is death.' Or: "10Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." (KJV). Which part isn't there?? Is this part....Jeremiah 7:31 And they have built the high places of To′pheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hin′nom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.’ Or as the KJV puts it " 31And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart." If it never came into God’s heart, surely he does not have and use such a thing on a larger scale.
  18. No, it doesn't seem odd, if you read the bible and believe what Jesus tells us. Anyone can receive forgiveness, if they repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus, that His death and resurrection was sufficient to pay the penalty for our sins. It doesn't matter how "good" we are; what matters is whether or not our sins have been washed clean by the blood of Christ. If Steve Irwin never repented, then he is in hell. And I guarantee he would not want anyone reading this to join him there. And if Jeffrey Dahmer truly repented, then praise God, another sinner saved!
  19. Two points to make here. It is Christian tradition that when a person is baptized ALL of his/her sins are washed away along with ALL punishment for them. The only sins that Dhamer would answer for would have been those committed AFTER his baptism. Is this unfair, well, Jesus told a parable about a man hiring workers for the day. He went out several times during the day to hire men for the fields. At the last hour of the day, he still found men who had not found work. He hired them. He had agreed to pay each man a day's wage. The men hired last were paid first - a full day's wage. The men hired first were paid last - they expected to be paid more - they weren't. They complained. Jesus said the land owner said to the men that they had agreed on a day's pay. Why be jealous because I am generous. Am I not allowed to do with my own, what I please? Jesus also said that prostitutes and other sinners were getting into Heaven ahead of the "righteous" Pharisees. All I can say is such is the MERCY of God. With regard to Steve Irwin, his fate is up to God not to anyone else, most especially those who come to R & S with their "Word of God, Believe It!" and "Accept Jesus or Burn in Hell" attitude. You people disgust me. Go learn the meaning of the phrase "I desire Mercy." I assure you, many of you will be crying "Lord, Lord." Don't be so bloody self-righteous that you think you won't be one of those at the wedding banquet without a wedding garment. Or having taken the place of honour at the table that you won't be asked to move for someone better than you! Tell me WHERE in the Gospels Jesus tells us to evangelize by threatening people with Hell if they don't believe? Can't find it? Gee, I wonder WHY?
